One image or a whole batch. Choose Automatic or Lossless optimization and keep every image in its original format.
Replace originals, save copies, or pick an output folder. If a file can’t be made smaller, it stays untouched.

Yes. Resim is free to download and use, with no subscriptions, accounts, or paid upgrades. The application’s original source code is open source under the MIT license; bundled components and brand assets retain their own licenses.
Resim requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. The universal app includes both Apple Silicon and Intel versions. Its interface is available in English and Spanish and follows your Mac’s language preferences.
No. Optimization happens entirely on your device using codecs included with the app. Resim works offline and has no telemetry. You can also optionally remove known personal metadata from supported formats, although that is not a guarantee of anonymity.
Automatic mode allows conservative recompression, so an image may change slightly. Choose Lossless to preserve decoded image samples or JPEG coefficients and supported presentation data. Some files are already optimized and won’t get smaller. Resim never converts your images to another format.
By default, Resim replaces an original only after validating a smaller result. You can instead save optimized copies beside your originals or in a folder of your choice. If optimization fails, is cancelled, or produces no reduction, the original is left unchanged.
PNG, JPEG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, AVIF, GIF (including animations), and self-contained static SVG. Some variants, such as HDR images, APNG, and animated WebP or AVIF, are not supported. Most inputs are limited to 100 MiB and 40 megapixels; SVG and animated GIF have additional limits.
